The Death Of Love

Oh love. Why is your body so still, why do your muscles sing no more, why does your chest not rise and fall.

Oh love. Why is your skin so cold, why do your eyes not trace my face, why do you not get up and accept my warm embrace.

Oh love. I have no regrets for our mistakes, no heart left to break, for you have taken it with you to the grave.

Oh love. Love that turned to death, death that turned to longing, longing that turned away from me, leaving me here to bear it alone.

Oh love. Oh love. Oh my love.

  5. It's interesting that you read it like that, because I wrote it with the guy dieing first, in my mind.

At no point in the post (and I try not to in any post I make) do I mention anything gender specific.

So whatever you read, whatever you find, you brought with you.

The blog is in red today because today is World AIDS Day and I live in Africa, where 22 million of the 33 million people who are HIV positive, live.

  6. Oh Dear Love,

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."

OML, LOVE LIVES on, it NEVER leaves US...

What I can tell you is that you'll be robbing the world of all you could be and all you have left to do and what feels like pain today will feel like a memory tomorrow.

I sincerely beg you, pick up the phone and talk to someone and tell them how you feel.

  10. Did you know, dear, how much you took away with you when you left? You have stripped me even of my past, even of the things we never shared. I was wrong to say the stump was recovering from the pain of the amputation. I was deceived because it has so many ways to hurt me that I discover them only one by one. - C.S Lewis

Please don't do it. Who ever you are, where ever you are, know that someone out there will be hurt beyond belief with your passing. Know that even when things look like the darkest night, there is always, always, always someone out there who has loved, loves, and will love you. Countless hearts need you to live. Millions of yet-to-be-met's are just waiting for you. If not for yourself, live for them.

  11. Given the context, you really mean "bear" and not "bare." Please correct it ASAP because that error ruins a beautiful passage.

  13. Thats a very idealistic, unconditional love.

No loop holes, nothing human..seemed altogether a divine love to me :)

  14. I am angry at you who would think of taking your own life. I am angry because my own love was not given that choice, yet you waste your time contemplating on it. Think about what you can do for the world and not what the world owes you, and hopefully you will find some purpose in your existence.

Thank you for this beautiful post. May we see the day that AIDS will no longer be a death sentence.

  15. The post reminds me of an old cat stevens song. To everyone else, be responsible and get tested for hiv. Behave responsibly. And treat people properly no matter what their status, It's upto us to educate people and remove the stigma for the benefit of mankind!

  16. The honesty is stunning and it hurts to hear the truth. It's good to hear though.

  18. To be honest, until I read the comments I didn't even imagine this being an actual death of a person. To me, I imagined love being personified and dying. Not loosing a lover to death, but loosing love itself. Anyways, I think this poem is absolutely brilliant, and beautiful, and so moving. I'm getting the last line, "Oh love. Oh love. Oh, my love," tattooed next week in cursive writing. Thank you.
