The Fire In Smoke

What I meant to say was, sometimes I stare at the cigarette in my hand and beg it to stop wasting my time and just kill me. But I figured you didn't want to hear that.

  2. You've fallen and because of that you've forgetten how you are. You can create greater magic with your words here.

  3. Sometimes life is depressing. Sometimes life is inspiring.

As soon as it starts being only one way or the other, I'll start writing it that way.

  4. RocknRolla - 2008
Johnny Quid: You see that pack of Virginia killing sticks on the end of the piano?
    Pete: Yes.
Johnny Quid: All you need to know about life is retained in those four walls. You will notice that one of your personalities is seduced by the illusions of grandeur - the gold packet of king size with a regal insignia, an attractive implication towards grandeur and wealth, the subtle suggestion that cigarettes are indeed your royal and loyal friends, and that, Pete, is a lie.
Johnny Quid: Your other personality is trying to draw your attention to the flip side of the discussion, written in boring bold black and white, it's a statement that these neat little soldiers of death and in fact trying to kill you and that, Pete, is the truth.
Johnny Quid: Oh, beauty is a beguiling call to death and i'm addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren.
Johnny Quid: That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which starts bitter ends sweet.
Johnny Quid: That is why you and i love the drugs and that is also why I cannot give that painting back. now please, pass me a light.

  6. What you are trying to say is 'Don't let my heart die, let it beat because I know you're near' Direct is gOOOOOOOOd. Never forget that.

  7. Sweetheart if you want to die, there's more effective means than smoking; but I'd rather that you let me remind you, why it is you want to live.

  8. Some of us were hardly ever here. The rest of us, we're born to disappear.

  9. You manage to say in a few simple words what I couldn't sum up in an hour of ranting. Thank you.

Also, if life follows a sine wave, the longer you spend at the bottom, the higher you'll extend the top. It's a nice hope, at least

  10. Please, stop holding it in, stop holding yourself back. Don't assume you know what I want to hear. I want to hear YOU.
Your truths, your fears; they are parts of you and I want it all, not just the shiny, pretty parts. Let me in; please don't hide. I might not be able to help, but I can hold your hand, your heart, your head. . . and maybe for a little while we'll beat the darkness.

  12. I wish you could see that there are things in this life that aren't worth wasting away.

I would do anything to get your wasted seconds back. I feel like each cigarette is taking you further away from me.

  13. Hey wonderful author, and Hopeless Romantic, It's Sapphire:

Your simple powerful and moving words remind me of the book "looking for Alaska" by John Green.

And I love how we are booth insomniacs, and post things in the wee hours of the late night and morning.

  16. My mother smokes. This quote sounds like it could've come directly from her mouth.
It pounded the life out of me for a moment.

  17. So many ways of self destruction, so little time...

This is the first post in a long time that feels like it WAS written for ME. There are so many ways of saying what you have, and I think I've used them all. It cheers me up to see the well is not yet dry, that I can improvise some more.

Sorting through the masks we wear for the benefit of others is a favorite pastime for me. Glad to see it's catching.
