The Fading Of Bright Stars

Maybe we’re all just shiny balls of light inside human machines.

Maybe we’re all trying desperately to convince others that the noise they hear coming out of our mouths is an accurate reflection of the intentions of the shiny ball of light inside the machine.

Maybe it screams,

“I am real in here, I am real in here, I am real here.”

Maybe the light inside me just wants to know, if you’re real too.

The Chance To Disappoint You

I love you.

So let me disappoint you.

Because I know that if you love someone, you are opening yourself up to being disappointed by them.

Because how can you love someone as a human, without everything that comes with that.

So disappoint me.

Disappoint me constantly, with all that you are and all that you could be and with everything that makes you, you.

I promise to disappoint you, with my whole heart.

And the winners are...

This has been ridiculously hard. People have done such amazing things. I should've known better, really I should've, and only handing out one prize seems wrong.

So I'm not going to do that.

So there are two prize winners, and a bunch of other winners, and a bunch of other winners.

The first of the two main winners are:

These guys:

Who walked around sharing entries from the book and taking pictures of people reading them. It must've taken these guys all day and you've got to respect the amount of people they interacted with, and I do. So, I will be sending you guys all three IWTFY books, signed.

And these guys:

Who walked around with a giant banner in the snow, leaving balloons with the web address and phrases from the blog everywhere.

But there were so many amazing entries. So...

You...

Seriously, click on the image above and tell me Sonya doesn't deserve to win something.

You...

"I spread the word about the new book by folding  papers into origami inspired notes with leaf detail. The QR code sends you straight to the blog and I included a few words to give them a taste of what to expect! Handed them out at coffee shops so that people could smile over a cuppa." - Keri

You...

Because I think these tiny books are beautiful.

You...

And you...
To help replace the books you're trying to send across the Philippines.
And you...

All get signed copies of I Wrote This For You: Just The Words. I'd love to be able to send you all the new book or all three copies of the IWTFY books but I'm on the tip of Africa and I only have access to so many books where I am.

If your entry doesn't appear here, do not despair. I will be contacting some of you personally over the next few days and handing out ebooks and handwritten poems, because you're all amazing and while I'm sorry I can't just give everything away to everyone, I'll do my best to thank you for the kindness you've shown me.

Thank you.

On another note, I'm disappearing into a small cave next to a river for the rest of the month to finish off some projects, some secret, some not so secret (like my new collection of short stories and non-IWTFY related prose and poetry, How To Be Happy? (question mark is intentional)).

I'll be posting prizes at the beginning of April when I'm back home. Thank you again, you're all absolutely amazing and I hope every good thing that can happen, happens to you.

Thank you for reading,

Me

Final Round Of Entries

Here's a roundup of the entires for last week's competition. I've started judging and you guys have made this incredibly difficult. Winners WILL be announced on Saturday.

If I'm missing anything, please nudge me on twitter or Facebook (and since yesterday, Instagram). I Wrote This For You And Only You is sold out (for now) and, #1 on the hot new releases chart on Amazon, and you are all so wonderful for that, and I could never be grateful enough to all of you who read what I write and share it with the world.

Thank you.

The Sum Of What I Wanted

I just wanted you to be proud.

But you always said it was better to be good than proud.

So I kept all my promises and appointments and I paid all my dues and debts.

So I'm good.

Please, be proud.

The Dark At The End Of The Light

We move forward by doing difficult things. That's how you know you're moving forward.

Sometimes it's difficult.

___

P.S. I'm still judging this competition but, as you can see on twitter and Facebook, I've got prizes to hand out. I'll let everyone know by the end of the week.

You can still get copies of all my books, here.
