The Last Stop Before The Last Stop

Some people say that love doesn't last forever.

But I've met other people. And while over the decades their bodies have forgotten the ideas of who they were, their heads remember their hearts.

Maybe they didn't love forever, just a lifetime.

But they still make liars of those people. You and I can make liars of them too.

He and I may not have loved forever but my heart does not keep time in numbers nor ticks nor tocks and frankly, anniversary dates. Preferences taken by increments of pulse rate, skipped [<3]beats, and sweet songs till the inevitable end...and then,if seen fit,to start again.
So let them keep their clocks and finite ends as I will choose the former as I did and have again. In your seconds a lifetime of mine has past. I bid adieu to him and I and all the time we've had..
Off in the distance albeit some words and names are new, is a sound reminiscent of a familiar favorite melody. Dare I say: "let the clocks [heart] begin" and have this dance with you.

I loved this one. I've made liars of them once and looking forward to currently do it again.
*beautiful,as usual.

I don't want a lifetime, I want forever. Because when I'm dead, I don't want that to be an excuse to stop loving me.

Wanting forever is greedy. Wanting forever is burdensome.

Want for what you will know, not for what is left for the possibility left to the living.

I don't want to lie about being in love.Love is free.

(I hate the complications of commitment)

I said I will love you forever. I wasn't lying. Not being with you does not make my love less, it just makes it right.

Hi Iain,
I'm a fan of your writing. Been reading your writing for some time now. But I don't quite get the last paragraph of this poem. Personally, I think it means that those people who think that love does not love forever are liars because love lasts forever. Or vice versa? Appreciate your feedback :)

Yes, the people I'm referring to with "But they still make liars of those people." are the people who say "love doesn't last forever."

Thanks for reading.
