The Passenger

You always made me feel bad for asking you for a lift. Now I pick up hitchhikers wherever I go. I take them right to their door. Even the prostitutes.

I do this all the time... make sure I never repeat the actions of someone else that hurt me, because I now know what pain they can inflict. It's a tough but strangely rewarding way to learn.

This is one of the of the more true, for want of a better word, posts that I've made.

The "even the prostitutes" makes me sad. :(
I want to save the world. But I can't. I'm giving up the whole prostitution thing and going back to homelessness.
I can't help anyone. I can't even take care of myself.

My ex-girlfriend, from a long time ago, the one who this specific post is directed at, had a problem with the prostitutes in the area we were living in, so it's aimed at the problem she had with them.

You just managed to write a succinct paragraph of text and showed a genuine understanding of human suffering and emotion. This means you can read, write and understand the people around you.

You're far more able than many people in this world to take care of yourself. You just have to believe that.

Go and ask someone for real help. I can try and make you feel better from behind this keyboard but that's all I can do. You need real people on your side of the screen to help and I swear by all that I hold holy and every single fibre of my being, they are out there, waiting for you to ask.

If you want to save the world, start with yourself. Please, I sincerely beg you, hold on.

Whoever you are. Thank you. You have no idea how much that reply meant to me, all those months ago.

Wow. This is so original, so touching, so indescribable. Pretty. Poignant, is what my english teacher would have said.
I like your blog, although I am not your you.
Have you seen the movies Oldboy? If not, watch it around now. It's easy to find on with English subs. I have a feeling you'd like it.

You're whoever you want to be :)

I have seen Oldboy and if memory serves correct, I was clutching my head by the end because it felt like it was going to explode (which means yes, I did enjoy it).

That was awesome!
The way you like...saved someone's life in the comments!

I didn't save anyone. People save themselves. I do appreciate the sentiment though, thank you :)

YAY! It's like you have the amazing power of saving people's lives, with your words. I pray with all my heart that I get the blessing of meeting you one day. Huggles!

Hello again...

I'm the one on her way to saving the world. (I don't want to refer to myself as an "ex-prostitute" anymore.)

I'm in college now, on my way to saving the world! I'm going to be a Social Worker and devote my life to helping others.

I thought about an English major briefly, because I love reading and writing, and because I know, firsthand (thanks to you) that words do have the power to change the world.

And they have.

Thank you. Take care of yourself, be at peace.

Shanti, shanti, shanti.

I saw your video that you recently posted, i believe it was TED?
you used this post and when i read it, i actually didn't understand it (i've seen this post before).
but after reading some of the comments, i actually DO understand it
it's amazing!!!!!
and i actually feel good saying that i do the same thing, no matter how badly someone treats me I would never inflict that kind of pain on anybody, even the people that you "think" would deserve it(prostitutes.

It's sad, they need someone to love them as well.
