The Way They Used To Make Them

The way there are no clocks in casinos and whenever you walk into one, the people in there are the people who shouldn't be in there.

The way supermarket aisles are designed to be confusing and no one in their right mind would put laundry detergent next to dog food.

The way economy class seats on an airplane could easily be more comfortable but they want you to pay to upgrade to first class.

The way everything you buy is designed to break so that soon, you'll have to buy a new one.

The way the whole world tries everything in its power to break you too.

The way you refuse, under any circumstances, to show the slightest crack.

I love that every night (well, technically morning) as I go to sleep, you're waking and posting the next day's story. It gives me something to think of as I drift off to sleep.

. . . And my cracks are showing, now more than ever.

It's the way it is.. but somebody made these decisions, right? Something tells me the greedy green eyed monster made these decisions.

No matter what, I will do what it takes. If not for me, for them. For those who have sacrificed so much so that I may have a chance.

Inside I may be shattered, crumbling, and dead but I refuse to let all they've done be in vain.

I will not crack.
I will not crack.
They made me exactly the way they used to make them, I swear.

It gets hard, and unbearable sometimes, but we keep going. Thank you for this.

Thank you so much for this. It's at the time when I really needed to hear these words :

"The way the whole world tries everything in its power to break you too.
The way you refuse, under any circumstances, to show the slightest crack."

As I try to find someone I'm not afraid to show my cracks to, because I trust them enough to know they will help me fix them.

Thanks

stating the obvious and converting oxygen to carbon dioxide, speaking in spoonerisms and misspelling words, being overly ambitious and paralyzingly self defeatist simultaneously, pretending to be a heroine addict and listening to the velvet underground, purposely timing music to fit walks to the bus stop like a movie soundtrack and dancing all the way there, wearing rain boots to tempt the rain and splashing in imaginary puddles, trying on all the clothes in the closet and leaving them in piles, taking long showers just for the opportunity to sing and forgetting the words to the song, rehearsing smalltalk in the mirror and messing up your words later on, footprints and hand prints and fingerprints and footprints and footprints and footprints. comedies and tragedies.
