The Occasional Silence

You can walk into a room and spot them. They seem fine when you talk to them but every now and again, across the room, you catch them looking off into the distance at an invisible point that maybe, they once reached. They laugh a little different. They hesitate a little more. Now they know what it feels like. And something about their eyes when they listen to music says

"Turn it up until my ears bleed. Let it be the last thing I hear."

I am this person, and I'm not hard to spot. If you haven't got here yet, I pray you never do.

ocassionally, i think we all read your words & fall into a silence because you remind us of how we feel or once felt.

I miss the person that was before I was this person.

Please turn it up just enough to burst my eardrums.

Does it half to be a broken heart? Can it be a broken soul? A mind?

Really good music sounds just as good when you're alone.

BUT...

When you're in love, even really crap music sounds good.

Personally, I think I am the "Frequent Silence." Still, I like listening to people. I might not always share my thoughts, but maybe that just helps me listen that much more.

You have just managed to explain the feelings that I cannot articulate.

I've been turning it up daily! It's all I want to do most times.

The most difficult part is when someone catches me drifting, and wants to know where I am. How does one explain it to someone who's never seen that place?

"I'm just crazy, that's all," I say.

I love that. :D

...everyone's reached that spot once. then we spend the rest of our lives grasping hopelessly for it.

I often stare into the distance like that. I manage to tune out every sound and color and feeling. It is an exquisite moment of sadness.

This sounds like it's about me. But you don't know me, it seems you understand though. Thankyou. We need people like you, who put things into perspective.
