The Seraphim And The Pirate

You were better to the ones that were worse for you. And worse to the one that was better for you.

Isn't that the way of things? Unfortunately, in my experience, it is.

The power of hiding ourselves from one another is mercifully given, for men are wild beasts, and would devour one another but for this protection. Henry Ward Beecher (1813 - 1887), "Proverbs from Plymouth Pulpit", 1887

Not so curiously, the behavior of one weighs so heavily on another.

I thought if I tried harder you would realised I deserved you love and you would break open to me and love me forever. I wanted to win your love, like a prize. I wanted you to be my prize.
I'm sorry for the others they were pushing me to reach my potential and I went where they were pushing and didn't look back. I'm sorry... I wish I could have loved you back. I wish I had been pushing for fulfilment instead of his love.

you were once a dream, then a reality, then i got over you. because you didn't appreciate what you had till it was gone.

then i laughed at how stupid you were. i'm not taking you back.

I only want the one that is better for me. From sometime yesterday forward. I wonder, all of the time, day after day what it will be like when we make our dream come true. I'm waiting and I love you...

Sometimes your poetry is too honest.

Maybe you
Maybe some mistakes are meant to be made
so you make that mistake
with Her -
and not Me -

Maybe all can be forgotten
if you just say
yes
to the heart
I've been holding out
for years

Maybe you just need to
ask the right question
to see Heaven
is right in front
of You

Yes, I was, but something in her needs the better in me, more than I need 'your' better for me. "...and that has made all the difference...".

You have such an amazing way with words. Wha's your inspiration?

Yes, I can read it but I don't agree with what you wrote. It is your prejudice and your doubts that lead you to the thought. He doesn't have to be handsome or perfectly fit but I want to be madly attracted to him. He doesn't have to be rich but I want to be proud of him privately and publicly. He doesn't have to be a good listener but I want to be heard and understood. Its as simple as that.

is there a specific intention in starting with plural but using singular form for the vice versa part? :)

Even as the years pass, this memory still lingers within every fiber of my brain. Never understanding why we do what we do.
